Paying Good Money For A Bad Product
Have you ever spent too much money on a nice pair of shoes only to wear them once and realize they are excruciatingly painful to wear? I once spent $150 on a pair of shoes and found out once I wore them that they terribly hurt my feet. Should I continue to wear them just because I spent the money to purchase them? Nope! I’m not going to continue to wear the shoes that hurt my feet to justify the money that I spent on them. What I’m going to do is to stop wearing the shoes and find something that fits me.
What if invested in a program that costs $300 a month and I’m really not sure if I should stick with it because it’s really not bearing any fruit. However, I have this other opportunity where I might want to invest those same marketing dollars. So, why am I going to try to keep sticking with the one that I am already paying for that’s not giving me a return on my investment? Just because you’ve paid too much for a service, doesn’t mean you should continue to use it in hopes that one day it will all pan out. I’m not going to throw good money after a bad product. Measure the money paid out on the investment you are spending per month and see what exactly it is that you are getting out of it and weigh all the risks.
This is why it is so important to measure the return on your investment. You need to assess and account for what you’ve paid into a program and what you’ve gotten out of the program. On the other hand, you might even pay for a program for three, four, five, even six months and eventually get a deal out of it or a lead out of it at the very end of the term and the compensation from that would have supported the entire six months, but you have to measure the return. Measure the money paid out on the investment you are spending per month and see what exactly it is that you are getting out of it and weigh all the risks.
