Navigating the negotiation process of buying or selling a home can be nerve-wracking. When going through the negotiations one can tend to let their anxieties get the best of them and may start worrying that the buyer or maybe even the seller is going to walk away from the deal. Before you let yourself get carried away in a tide of doubt, remember that we all want to close! Always remember when negotiating through home inspections, appraisals, through working with clients and working with buyers and sellers that the end result is the same: We all want to sell the house. Rest assured, we all want that deal to close.
At the end of the day we have to assume that the seller wants to sell their house. They aren’t going to want to start all over. The buyer obviously wants to buy the house, they don’t want to go back out and look. The buyer’s agent wants the deal to close and the seller’s agent wants the deal to close. So, when we are negotiating, we are trying to dig our heels in, all we are doing is nailing down the details. We want to make sure that we all are on the same playing field and have the same understanding of the deal. We all have the same goal: Close the deal. Let’s let cooler heads prevail and let’s keep the deal together and understand the goal that we all want to close.
