Meeting Your Buyer Agent For The First Time

MEETING YOUR BUYER AGENT FOR THE FIRST TIME

When you set up a tour, and you’re meeting your buyer agent for the first time, there’s a couple things you really want to look for when first, that buyer agent is first getting out of the car. They say hey, I’m Evan, nice to meet you. Hey, I’m buyer, nice to meet you. When that buyer shows up, buyer agent shows up, they should have a professional standard of a couple different things, right? Their cars should be clean, they should be together, right?

The shoes should be tied, right? Their hair should be combed, all that sort of stuff, their shirt shouldn’t be hanging out. But more importantly, they should have some good information for you. The tax record of the property we’re looking at, and any of the forms that were attached to the MLS sheet.

So when we get out of the car and say hi Mr. Buyer, I’m Evan Russell with ERA Russell realtor, nice to meet you. Here’s a folder of the homes in chronological order and a Google map of where we’re going to go on our tour. And here’s a home buyer eBook, a little bit about the process, a little bit about me. And in the back of the folder, you’ll find an example of an offer, what will be required, kind of it’s blank, so we can go through it together.

So when you’re ready to make a choice on a home, you know what’s really expected of us in terms of dates, time, money that sort of thing, right? The other thing about when you first meet your buyer agent, is you never really want to look at one home, right? Looking at one home at one time is difficult. So a buyer agent should definitely suggest, say hey Mr. Buyer, I know we’re going to look at main street today, you’re going to be out, I’m going to be out.

Why don’t you make about an hour for me, and I’ll find a couple other homes in and around the area that you might overlooked, or maybe we can use as a comparison either positive or negative, to figure out the price of the home that we really like is on point. To see what other homes get you another value, all right. So showing one home to one person is difficult. You load your baby up, you take off time from work. You drive over here, you drive over there.

The house looks great, as soon as you walk in, boom it’s got smoke, it’s got cat box, it’s got whatever other distraction that you might not like and the tour is immediately over. Then you walk outside the house, you’re like okay gee, thanks. If you see anything else, let me know, right? That’s not what we want to do. If we’re going to bundle up or we’re going to go take a look at some homes, let’s look at a couple at a time in and around the area and maximize your time together with your buyer agent.

So again, when you meet that buyer agent, clean cut, clean car, don’t come out of the car empty-handed and be like okay, let’s go and expect the buyer agent to find the sell sheet. They want to have a little bit of an idea of what they’re showing you, what they’re discussing with you. Where the school is, where the supermarket is, gas, oil, vinyl side, central air.
